Advancing the Diagnostic-to-Treatment Continuum in GI & Lung Cancer Care – Bethesda

Bethesda will bring together leading experts in gastrointestinal and thoracic oncology, pathology, molecular diagnostics, and translational science for a multidisciplinary conference focused on the advances redefining precision cancer care across GI and lung malignancies.

The program is co-chaired by Michael Pishvaian, MD, PhD, of Johns Hopkins Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center, and Jonathan R. Brody, PhD, of Oregon Health & Science University. Together, their clinical and translational perspectives reflect the conference’s emphasis on connecting molecular discovery, diagnostic characterization, and treatment decision-making across the cancer care continuum.

Through expert-led presentations, case-based education, and interactive panel discussions, the program will examine evolving approaches across colorectal, pancreatic, gastric and gastroesophageal, hepatobiliary, non-small cell lung, small cell lung, and other GI and thoracic malignancies, while highlighting the increasingly important role of pathology and precision diagnostics in guiding individualized treatment.

Participants will explore advances in molecular and genomic profiling, biomarker testing, targeted therapies, immunotherapy, liquid biopsy and ctDNA, treatment resistance, emerging diagnostic technologies, clinical research, and novel therapeutic strategies. Particular emphasis will be placed on how rapidly evolving molecular information is influencing treatment selection, sequencing, and patient management across both GI and lung cancers.

The Bethesda conference is designed to bring together the professionals responsible for diagnosis, molecular characterization, research, and treatment, creating a collaborative forum where oncology, pathology, and translational science perspectives intersect.
